For San Marcos resident Bill Gilfillen, 70, it was a spacious front yard divided into three sections. Gilfillen is no gardener or landscaper – unless you count a large display of Christmas lights, figures and decorations that he has planted on his lawn each holiday season for almost 20 years. In that time, Gilfillen has amassed an amazing collection – about 95,000 lights, animated figures and 80 snowmen. Thousands of people stop by his house on Knob Hill Road to admire his setup. Santa makes a special two-week appearance before Christmas every night (except Wednesdays) from 6 to 8pm.
